2018 Toyota Camry fuse box location and diagram

The 2018 Toyota Camry uses separate fuse panels for the engine compartment and passenger cabin. Each panel protects different electrical circuits, so locating the correct box is the first step when diagnosing a failed accessory, lighting problem, or starting issue.

Fuse assignments can vary slightly between four-cylinder, V6, hybrid, and high-trim models. The label molded into the fuse-box cover and the owner’s manual remain the final authority for fuse position and amperage, while a reference diagram makes the layout easier to understand.

Before removing any fuse, switch off the ignition and all electrical accessories. Never replace a blown fuse with a higher-rated fuse, aluminum foil, or another improvised conductor, since doing so can damage wiring or create a fire hazard.

Engine compartment fuse box location

The primary under-hood fuse and relay box is in the engine compartment, generally on the driver’s side near the rear portion of the engine bay. It has a plastic cover secured by locking tabs. Press the tabs and lift the cover to expose cartridge fuses, blade fuses, and relays.

This panel usually handles high-current systems and major power feeds. Typical circuits include the alternator, electric power steering, cooling fan, headlamps, horn, windshield wipers, fuel injection, air conditioning, and ignition-related systems. Exact positions differ according to the engine and equipment package.

A fuse puller is commonly stored inside or beside the fuse box. If it is missing, use insulated fuse pliers rather than prying against neighboring terminals with a screwdriver.

Interior fuse panel location

The cabin fuse panel is positioned beneath the driver-side instrument panel, behind a small access cover. Sit in the driver’s seat and look below the dashboard near the lower trim panel. The cover can usually be removed by pulling it carefully from its retaining points.

This interior panel supplies lower-current body and convenience circuits. Examples include the audio system, USB outlets, instrument cluster, power windows, door locks, interior lighting, air-conditioning controls, seat heaters, and electronic control modules.

On left-hand-drive vehicles, the panel is located on the driver’s side. Imported or right-hand-drive versions may place the interior fuse panel on the opposite side, so the vehicle’s manual and trim configuration should be checked before removing panels.

How to read the Camry fuse diagram

The fuse-box cover normally includes a molded diagram or printed label. It identifies each fuse by a circuit abbreviation and often shows its amperage. Labels such as ECU-IG, DOME, H-LP, P/SEAT, P/W, and AM refer to specific electrical systems rather than physical component names.

The amperage rating is printed on the top of a blade fuse and is also indicated on the diagram. A 10-amp fuse must be replaced with another 10-amp fuse, even if a 15-amp fuse appears to fit. The fuse color can provide a quick clue, but the printed rating is more reliable.

A fuse can look intact while having a hairline break. Test it with a continuity tester or multimeter after removing it, and check for voltage at the fuse socket when the circuit should be powered. Some vehicle systems remain live with the ignition off, so use care around exposed terminals.

Common fuse locations and protected circuits

The following reference summarizes circuits commonly found in the XV70-generation Camry. It is a guide to panel function rather than a substitute for the vehicle-specific diagram, since hybrid equipment and optional features can change the assignment.

Panel Common label or circuit Typical function Important note
Engine compartment ALT, EPS Charging and electric power steering Often protected by high-amperage fusible links
Engine compartment H-LP LH/RH Left and right headlamp circuits May separate low-beam or high-beam functions
Engine compartment WIPER, WASHER Windshield wiper motor and washer pump A seized motor can cause repeated fuse failure
Engine compartment EFI, IG, AM2 Engine control and ignition power Diagnosis may require scan-tool testing
Engine compartment HORN, A/C Horn and air-conditioning control Relay operation may need to be checked
Interior panel ECU-IG, PANEL Ignition-switched electronics and dash illumination Several electronic modules may share a feed
Interior panel P/W, DOOR Power windows and door systems A fault in one door can affect the circuit
Interior panel DOME, RADIO, USB Interior lamps, audio, and accessory power Check for aftermarket accessories
Interior panel S/HTR, P/SEAT Heated seats and power seat functions Availability depends on trim level

The label can identify a fuse, but it does not prove that the fuse is the only cause of a malfunction. For example, a failed wiper motor, shorted trailer wiring, damaged door harness, or loose ground may blow the same fuse again after replacement.

Safe fuse inspection and replacement

Turn the Camry off, remove the key or keep the push-button ignition fully switched off, and disconnect accessory chargers. Open the correct panel and compare the suspect fuse with the diagram. Pull it straight out and inspect the metal link through the transparent body.

Install the matching fuse in the same slot. If it fails immediately, stop replacing fuses and investigate the circuit. Repeated failure indicates a short circuit, overloaded accessory, damaged component, or wiring fault that needs proper testing.

When diagnosing a no-crank complaint, inspect the starter-related power feed, ignition switch signal, and engine-control authorization circuits rather than focusing only on the starter motor. The same systematic approach used with a starter circuit reference can help separate a blown fuse from a relay, wiring, or control-module problem.

When the diagram does not match

A diagram from a different 2018 Camry may show unused positions or different fuse names. Hybrid models include additional high-voltage equipment and require special safety procedures; do not open orange high-voltage wiring or attempt to service hybrid battery fuses without the appropriate training.

Aftermarket alarms, remote starters, dash cameras, audio amplifiers, and trailer modules can add inline fuses outside both factory fuse panels. If a factory fuse appears healthy but an accessory is dead, trace the accessory wiring and look beneath the dashboard, near the battery, and around the installation point.

Use these checks before replacing a fuse:

A clear fuse box diagram is most useful when paired with the Camry’s trim level, engine type, and symptoms. Use the under-hood cover for high-current circuits, the interior-panel cover for cabin electronics, and a multimeter for confirmation. Wiring Cloud provides practical electrical references that can help organize those checks and guide a safer repair.
